Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program Celebrates Major Milestone: 5 Batches and 100 Cadets Trained

The Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program, launched in June 2024 through a partnership with Airworks Aviation Academy of Mactan, Cebu, has reached a significant milestone with the successful enrollment of five batches and over 100 cadets currently progressing through training.

The cadet program, designed to help address the global pilot shortage, is the first airline‑backed initiative of its kind in the Philippines. It offers selected candidates an integrated pathway to achieving their Commercial Pilot License (CPL), aligned with Cebu Pacific’s operational standards, while also preparing future pilots for direct entry into the airline’s cockpit.

Airworks Aviation Academy, with more than 30 years of experience in Philippine aviation training since its founding in Manila in 1993, provides the flight training component of the program at its facilities in Lapu‑Lapu City, Cebu.

Cebu Pacific’s commitment to building a robust pilot pipeline comes alongside its continued fleet expansion to support growing travel demand. In October 2024, the airline signed a landmark $24 billion purchase agreement with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney for up to 152 aircraft, including 102 firm A321neo jets and rights to 50 additional A320neo Family aircraft, the largest aircraft order in Philippine aviation history.

With this paired investment in both pilot training and fleet growth, Cebu Pacific is positioning itself to meet future connectivity needs while giving Filipino aviation professionals a clear runway to the airlines.
